Carpet in squares instead of one big roll
Carpet tiles are 18- to 24-inch squares that lay side by side. When one gets stained, burned, or chewed up, you lift it out and drop in a spare. No re-stretching, no patch that never matches.

A pattern you choose, a floor you can fix
Squares can run in one direction, flip in a checkerboard, or mix two colors for a custom look. Because the pieces are small, waste is low on odd-shaped rooms. We lay them over clean, flat concrete or a prepped subfloor, and we fix low spots first. For rough slabs, our floor prep work comes first.
Keep a few spare squares from the same dye lot after the job. In five years you will be glad you did.

Honest limits
Carpet squares are not waterproof. If you have standing water in a basement, plan on luxury vinyl plank instead. For bedrooms where you want a soft, continuous look, regular carpet is usually nicer.
